Due to the pandemic, theaters were repeatedly closed in 2020, and opera performers faced unprecedented difficulties. Performances came to a complete halt, effectively wiping out the industry. Countless grassroots actors and backstage staff were forced to seek alternative careers. Audiences were also significantly less motivated to attend performances due to various restrictions. The future of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong was uncertain, and concerns were lurking everywhere. For a century, Cantonese opera has endured repeated crises. Can it rise again amidst the pandemic today?

In line with the spirit of solidarity and solidarity, the "One Table and Two Chairs Charity Foundation" launched the "Online Fundraising Cantonese Opera Concert for Fighting the Epidemic and Reborn Together", which brought together 33 leading actors in the Cantonese opera industry, a professional music team and an experienced behind-the-scenes team. Even though everyone faced countless hardships, they actively participated in this online concert and tried their best to help Liyuan practitioners in need.

This fund hopes to contribute little by little, and all proceeds will be used to support Hong Kong Cantonese opera practitioners and revitalize the Hong Kong Cantonese opera ecosystem during the epidemic.

The YouTube video of "One Heart" has been viewed over one million times, with a total viewing time of 7.7 million minutes!

We are grateful for the donations and support from people in Hong Kong and around the world! The total amount of donations has reached HK$3.34 million (audited).

The donation distribution committee members and volunteers also distributed the donations to 403 beneficiaries (all professional Cantonese opera practitioners affected by the epidemic) on January 30 and 31, with each beneficiary receiving HK$8,302.

Thank you for providing such a significant gift to the Cantonese opera industry during this challenging time, just before the Lunar New Year! For many practitioners, this 8,000 yuan is truly a timely relief!
