It's truly impressive how they manage to incorporate the melodious sounds of Cantonese opera into relatable and touching stories. It's remarkable how they strike a balance between relatability and cultural heritage.

This is our third time watching OTTC's performance, and I'm thrilled to say that my kids enjoyed it just as much as I did! It's so heartwarming and special to see them getting a chance to experience traditional Cantonese music and art in such a fun and engaging way.

OTTC's performances are lighthearted and never fail to surprise me. By bridging different artistic expressions from various eras, they not only touch the hearts of the audience but also emphasize the importance of inheritance and passing on cultural traditions.

To Meet You in a Briny Sea

Naamyam Theatre

Amidst the bustling waterfront, Hong Kong’s floating families have intertwined their existence with the ebb and flow of the sea. Guided and actively engaged by Naamyam maestro Yuen Siu-fai, this theatrical production unveils the captivating odyssey of these floating families, navigating from the ocean’s depths to the lively shores of Hong Kong. As ancestral melodies echo through the ages, the performance prompts contemplation on how the upcoming generation will honor and safeguard their collective heritage.

Conducted and performed by Naamyam maestro Yuen Siu-fai, the Naamyam Theatre production “To Meet You in a Briny Sea ” is a musical performance that uses Naamyam, a beautiful music genre with soft and smooth lyrics and melodies, to tell the folk tales of the lives of floating families in the South.
